June 17, Photo Credit: This will not be an entertaining document. Most of us are trumpet players and the thought of playing a cornet sometimes turns us off. How this idea ever got started is a wonder to many of us. If I were a craftsman and needed to remove a nail from a board, I would choose a claw hammer. If I needed to hammer out some sheet metal, I would select a ball penne hammer. Making the selection between a trumpet and a cornet should be made for the same reason. One instrument does a job that the other can not. Some might argue that they are the same instrument and that might be the real reason there is so much confusion and argument over the importance and use of each instrument. This past week I have been bothered by one thought which has kept me up at night.

And he handles it with such grace.

One side of the room was a semi-circle of colonnaded windows through which jewelled figures slid out to the candlelit terrace and the beating of a band. I gave up toying with my truffles and let my gaze move across the breathless midnight Mediterranean lit up with yachts and beyond, way beyond, to the lights of Africa.

Venus is the Greek goddess of love, beauty and sexuality. According to Greek poet Hesiod, she was born when Cronus cut off Ouranos’ genitals and threw them into the sea, and from the aphros sea foam arose Aphrodite. Because of her beauty other gods feared that jealousy would interrupt the peace among them and lead to war, and so Zeus married her to Hephaestus, who was not viewed as a threat. Her unhappiness in marriage caused her to frequently seek out the companionship of her lover Ares.
Aphrodite also became instrumental in the Eros and Psyche legend, and later was both Adonis’ lover and his surrogate mother. Her Roman equivalent is the goddess Venus. Myrtles, doves, sparrows, and swans are sacred to her. Origin Aphrodite has numerous equivalents: She has parallels with Indo-European dawn goddesses such as Ushas or Aurora. The Hellenes were well aware that her origins lay in the East: It was said Aphrodite could make any man fall in love with her at his first sight of her.

Does the Constitution or the Predilection of Judges Reign? Nevertheless, judges have an obligation to interpret the Constitution, irrespective of their personal feelings, so as to carry out the intent of the Framers. If judges abandon this obligation, the public will view courts as political institutions, their decisions less rooted in the law than in the personalities and politics of the individual judges, and will view the courts as not expounding the law but rather as handing down social policy in judicial dress to suit the perceived needs of the moment.

Oh the things I promised my parents to get them to purchase this trombone for me its something I will never forget, and actually a memory I still recall when I have young students come into my shop to purchase a new trombone with their parents. I got into college on this trombone and played some of my most memorable performances in my young career on it. I sold this trombone in in order to fund my first Conn 88H after I fell in love with the Conn sound.
It’s been well loved since then, serving its second owner well, who recently traded it in here at The Brass Ark to get something newer. So again, for the second time in my life, I offer my original professional trombone for sale. Features a 2 piece red brass bell, thayer valve, wide orchestral weight slide. Threaded leadpipe receiver, with one leadpipe. The bell is raw brass, I stripped it myself when I started college at USC, as all the cool kids had raw brass bells. Still in very good condition, some normal wear on the neckpipe and slide from contact.
I had a blow on it for old time sake and it is still a very nice trombone.
